Essential oils are concentrated plant extracts. They’re made by steaming or cold pressing various parts of a plant (flowers, bark, leaves or fruit) to capture the compounds that produce plants essence.

It may take several kilograms of a plant to produce just a single bottle of essential oil.

Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence and fragrance.

Essential oils are lipid soluble and therefore are absorbed through the skin, penetrate cell walls and enter the blood stream and cross the blood barrier. They especially impact the amygdala, the emotional centre of the brain.

In addition to their sublime scents, essential oils have powerful healing benefits when inhaled or applied to the surface of the skin.

Aromatherapy is the practice of using these powerful extracts for therapeutic and healing benefit.

Essential oils are highly concentrated, volatile plant extracts. We obtain essential oils through various extraction methods, and the part of the plant used differs depending on the oil, however typically it is the most aromatic part of the plant.

Rose oil, for example, comes from the petals of the rose, while citrus oils come from the rind.

Because essential oils are obviously all-natural, it might be easy to assume that they’re gentle and largely unreactive. This isn’t the case at all.  By definition, they are extremely potent and need to be handled with care. On average, essential oils are up to 75 times more powerful than dried herbs.  Just a drop goes a long way, and aside from very specific essential oils, they should always be diluted properly before applying them directly to the skin.

Tawa Labs Crystal Collection Blends is a chosen brand for leading spas, boutique hotels and health centres because of its unique crystal and essential oil alchemy.

Each of the Crystal Collection Blends are curated by a leading authority on crystal healing with essential oils – a trained professional with decades of experience.  The blends are numbered to achieve maximum flow in energy, assisting those with physical, emotional, identity, behavioural and spiritual needs to attain personalized balance.

The Crystal Blends speak to an individual’s needs, and are based on the 7 energy centres or chakras.

For healing, we revisit the energy world of chakras, which once balanced and liberated in expert hands, have earned their special reputation over thousands of years.

The word Chakra comes from one of the oldest languages in the world – Sanskrit.  It means a wheel of light and it reflects ancient wisdom.   Situated at interconnected distances from each other along the spine, energy enters through the crown chakra at the top of the head and flows down to the root chakra at the base of the spine. The Chakra points allow energy to mingle and dissipate in patterned energy waves. Energy needs gentle free flow and chakras provide opportunities for transformation and distribution in health. The life forces are known as prana (India) or chi (China).  In constant communication, they influence the health and functioning of organs within the body.   This is an opportunity to optimise your total wellbeing by liberating a free flow of energy between your chakras.  The balance of your chakras is connected to your experience of all dimensions of health.

Each crystal in the Tawa Labs Crystal Collection perfectly complements and resonate with the carefully selected essential oil blends for harmony and flow in all round healthy daily living.
